IET 150th anniversary EDITORIAL USE ONLY A general view of a letter dating from 1879 from Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone to Sir William Preece, Chief Engineer of the Post Office, is unveiled as the telephone has been included in a list of discoveries and inventions that have significantly impacted humanity over the last 150 years, by the Institute of Engineering and Technology in celebration of its 150th anniversary.
