18 October 2023, Hesse, Frankfurt/Main: An employee of Berenberg Verlag Berlin holds a copy of the book "Eine Nebensache" by Palestinian author Adania Shibli at the stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The controversial postponement of an honor for Shibli caused discussion. The author was to be awarded the "Liberaturpreis" by the Litprom association. Her novel had been highly praised by critics, but also criticized for alleged anti-Semitic stereotypes.
