Members of Britains nuclear waste services view part of Finland’s “encapsulation plant” where spent nuclear fuel from nearby nuclear power stations is sealed before being deposited tunnels deep underground in the worlds first underground nuclear waste repository site in west Finland. The Onkalo spent nuclear fuel repository is a deep geological repository for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel located near the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plants on the west coast of Finland. It will be the world's first long-term disposal facility for spent nuclear fuel and is due to start operations of spent nuclear fuel storage by the ned of the year.
